No signature, no work.

Ask any contractor forum what to do about unpaid extras and that is the answer, every time. The reason almost nobody actually does it: writing up a change order takes 20 minutes and the customer is standing right there. So you say “yeah, no problem” — and at the final invoice they “don't recall that.”

ScopeSign makes the paperwork faster than the handshake.

Kitchen remodel, $18,000.

“While you're here, could you also do the waterfall island?” You say $2,400. Before anyone picks up a tool, their phone buzzes with the itemized change and the new project total.

Thirty seconds later you have a signature, a timestamp and a location — and they have their own copy.

  1. While you're here, could you also do the waterfall island?
  2. Sure — that's $2,400 more. Sending it over now.
  3. Got the text. Looks right
  4. Change order approved and signed

Faster than saying “yeah, no problem.”

  1. 1

    Snap it, price it

Tap the change, add a photo and a price. Line items if you want them, one line if you don't.

  2. 2

    Text it

The homeowner gets an itemized text with a link. No app, no account, no login — they review and sign on their phone.

  3. 3

    Signed and on record

Signature, timestamp and location captured. Both of you get the PDF instantly. Then you start the work.

Built for the job site, not the office.

  • One summary PDF per job

Every signed change with photos, prices and totals in a single document you attach to the final invoice.

  • Revised project total

Every change order shows the new total, not just the add-on. Kills the “I thought that was included” argument.

  • English and Spanish

Your crew works in either language, and the homeowner sees a clean change order in theirs.

  • Photo documentation

Attach a photo of the wall, the pipe, the subfloor — whatever the change is. It rides along with the signature.

  • Automatic reminders

Hasn't signed? ScopeSign follows up so you don't have to chase.

  • Full audit trail

Drafted, sent, viewed, signed. Every step time-stamped and kept with the document.

Questions contractors ask

What is a change order?

A change order is a written record of work added to or removed from the original contract, with the price and the new project total. It protects both sides by replacing a verbal “yeah, no problem” with something you can both point to later.

Do change orders need to be signed?

Yes — an unsigned change order is just a note to yourself. In many states written, signed authorization is what makes an extra collectible, and even where it isn't required, a signature is what ends the argument at the final invoice.

Is a text-message approval legally binding?

Electronic signatures are recognized under the federal ESIGN Act and UETA in nearly every US state; ScopeSign records a drawn signature plus timestamp, location and a full audit trail. We're not a law firm — check your contracts with an attorney.

Does my customer need to install anything?

No. They get a text with a link, review the itemized change in their phone browser and sign with their finger. No app, no account, no password.

What does it cost?

Creating and sending change orders is free; exporting signed documents and the job summary PDF is part of the Pro plan; waitlist members get launch pricing.
